Abstract: |
The main goals of this article are to formulate a comprehensive heuristic framework for the analysis of the subdisciplines of Lexicography and to present hypotheses with regard to the relationship between each of these subdisciplines, with special focus on the design of dictionary reviewing as a process and the design of dictionary reviews as a product of this process. The heuristic framework for the analysis of the subdisciplines of Lexicography is outlined, and the major hypothesis presented is that there is a reciprocal relationship between dictionary reviewing and reviews, dictionary research, and dictionary design, the object of both reviewing and reviews. It is also argued that very little research has been forthcoming on various dimensions of the theories and methods of reviewing and reviews. |
