Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the results of a project conducted with the students of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. One of the purposes of the project was to develop a list of criteria for the evaluation of dictionaries. Participants worked on completing the main project activity, which was to prepare lists of phrases and collocations typical of the specific field of legal German as a foreign language, for instance, words specific to tax law or family law. Students categorised the criteria into three groups: completion of lexicographic data, searching process and user friendliness. The project evaluated both print and online dictionaries.
