This paper describes the various types of automated lexical resources currently available or under development in western Europe, concentrating on the computerized dictionaries written for languages other than English. Although by no means complete, it attempts to cover the major types of dictionaries under development and the centers where relevant work is in progress. As a natural extension to this, reflecting the multilingual concerns of Europe, the survey includes the work that has been done on bilingual dictionaries, an area which raises additional problems for dictionary construction, yet which has received little attention up to present. |
