Abstract: |
In this paper we present a new approach to a learner-oriented description of paradigmatic relationships in pedagogical lexicography, and its application to an electronic learner's dictionary for German and Italian (ELDIT: http://www.eurac.edu/eldit).
Referring to the lexical field theory we aim to represent these relationships through lexical fields by grouping and organizing parts of the lexicon according to semantic criteria. In this way we hope to contribute to a systematic language transmission.
Lexical units are described in interactive graphics and contrastively specified through the relationship with semantically related words. The analysis of each lexical unit contains specific information about the kind of semantic relationship, different meaning elements (denotative and connotative), stylistic characteristics and semiotic principles of information transmission. |
