Abstract: Lower Sorbian is a Slavonic language which has been spoken for about the past 1.500 years in the German federal state of Brandenburg. According to the findings of a sociolinguistic survey there are at the most 7.000 speakers of Lower Sorbian, which seems to be threatened with extinction in the medium term. In this situation various endeavours are being made in order to maintain and even to revitalize the language. The Active German-Lower Sorbian learner's dictionary of verbs, accessible on the Internet, is intended as a contribution to this aim. The article shows some basic features of the dictionary, with special attention to the way how grammatical information is integrated: (a) The valency frames are described as exhaustively as possible. (b) An attempt is made to include systematically as subentries the so-called Aktionsarten (manners of verbal action), which generally do not have equivalents in German. (c) The illustrative sentences, which are also offered as audio files to document the pronunciation of Lower Sorbian, are used to demonstrate the main usages of the verbal category of aspect. The lexicographic data concerning Aktionsart and aspect is supplemented with more detailed grammatical information.
