This paper will focus on some aspects of the presentation in printed dictionaries of one subtype of the category of multiword lexical items, i.e. fixed expressions. Although electronic dictionaries already play an important role as lexicographic tools and will most probably dominate the future of lexicography, printed dictionaries are still the default lexicographic tools for the majority of present-day dictionary users. Their importance for the immediate future should not be underestimated. When taking a contemplative look at dictionaries but also when pursuing a transformative approach printed dictionaries still have to be a target of reflection, research and innovative planning. |
